The sun comes up and the morning starts and the day begins on
just an ordinary day
and the morning bells are ringing out as the sun shines in on
just another other day
then the man out in the street
he
doesn't know anyone he meets
'cause he's too busy trying to reach his destination
when he gets there he sits behind the desk
puts his feet up there to rest
does his job but doesn't really care at all
when he gets back home
he might just find that he's alone
the letter that she wrote is sitting on the table
then he holds his head, shakes it doesn't understand
that she wanted more than he was ever able to give
The sun comes up and the morning starts and the day begins on
just an ordinary day
and the morning bells are ringing out as the sun shines in on
just another other day
a little girl out playing in the yard
that never had to look too hard to find something to do
then her ball rolls in the street
then she gets up to her feet
she never saw the 18 wheeler headed towards her
and then a man comes out of the blue
saves her from the impending doom
she never even found out what his name was
glad that I could help
the hero said as he brushed himself
he walked away and never saw her again
and all you sitting in your seats
you better rise up to your feet
look around you and see what is going on
men are claiming to be wise
but we all live and we all die
that is just another ordinary
an ordinary day
